The Flower Girl

A short post,  to quickly show you what I have been working on.  In the gallery you will see how I sketch out my idea and how a painting develops through it's various stages. The painting took a while to complete, but I am really pleased with how it has turned out It has a very romantic feel to it and the pastel tones make this a very feminine looking portrayal of a young teen.

Before and After
Before and After

With every hour spend on the work the painting becomes tighter and tighter in execution. My husband always asks me why I post the ugly duckling stages and I always like to say that that's the beauty of creating art. From almost comical sketches the form starts to develop. Through lots of hunting and pecking the right color tones are selected and all of a sudden not only a resemblance emerges, but also something that is visually interesting.

I am painting the daughter of the owner of Alternative Blooms , a shop that specializes in beautiful custom made wedding bouquets.

Now comes the most difficult part for me. As the painting enters it's final stages I need to come up with a title. If you have an idea for a title please leave it in the comment section below.
